Kusha Kapila and Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia were married for about six years before they parted ways in 2023. In a recent interaction, Zorawar opened up about why his marriage with Kusha didn’t work out and how the two mutually decided to separate.
Speaking on the YouTube channel Social Misfits and Zor & More, Zorawar discussed leaving a stable job during the Covid lockdown after witnessing Kusha’s rise as a content creator. He said, “I started learning editing and shooting videos during lockdown and I saw my partner also having that growth. So, I knew this was something that is creatively challenging.”
Zorawar also admitted being on dating apps after his divorce with Kusha, saying, “Yes, I am a single guy, why can’t I be on dating apps.” When asked why marriages aren’t working in today’s time, Zorawar said it may be because many people realise they can fulfil their personal ambitions if they “run solo.” He explained, “We can’t generalise why marriages are not working. But people are realising that sometimes they can work in a team and sometimes they can’t and are better off alone. I can’t give you a straight answer. Sometimes you realise that you progress more when you run solo.”

Addressing whether couples lose their spark with time, he said, “I think they shouldn’t, but if they do, it is important for a couple to revive and get back to it to make sure that you are each other’s priority.”
When asked when he realised his relationship with Kusha wasn’t working anymore, he said, “I think both the partners will get the feeling when it is not working. In my case, we both sat down and discussed that these things are not working, and we kind of came up to that point and mutually agreed to part ways. You have to realise it and be authentic with your partner and yourself. It’s better if you stay clear with each other.”
After parting ways with Zorawar, Kusha moved to Mumbai and expanded her work into films. She also ventured into entrepreneurship and launched her shapewear label, UnderNeat. Additionally, Kusha runs a restaurant, Torte, with her friend in Gurgaon.
