Girl,cousin commit suicide

Wrongly informed that she had failed in her exams first led a girl to commit suicide and later her cousin too,who took the extreme step after being overcome by guilt that he was responsible for the misunderstanding that led to her suicide.

Snehal Shirbhate (18) killed herself at her college hostel in Amravati late on Tuesday after her cousin Roshan Rewade (20),a second year engineering student,told her that her name was missing from the pass list of BSc Part I.

It was later discovered that she had actually passed in first class. Her name was on the second list that was put up on the university website the next day.

On Friday,Roshan committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Adiwadi Layout.

He left a note saying he was taking his own life as his “silly mistake” drove his sister to suicide.
