Acting on the tip-off, Police Inspector Arun Thorat of the Anti-Extortion Cell laid a trap and arrested the accused near Kalachowki in the Parel central Mumbai.
The Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai Police arrested five men from Haryana for allegedly attempting to sell illegal firearms and ammunition near Cotton Green Railway Station on Monday.
The accused, identified as Sunny Nareshkumar (26), Ravi English (23), Rahul Singh (27), Anuj Kumar (28), and Aditya Kaushik (23), were apprehended on Monday based on a tip-off.
Police recovered three country-made pistols, one handmade knife, 44 live cartridges of 7.65mm calibre, seven live cartridges of 8mm calibre, five mobile phones, and cash from the accused.
With the large haul, the police were investigating if the accused are linked to some gang.
