Final decision on Ajit Pawar’s offer likely in 2 months: NCP

Days after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar offered to resign from the post of Leader of Opposition, seeking an organisational responsibility, the matter was discussed on Wednesday at the national executive of the party in Delhi and the final decision is expected in two months.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar had on June 25 said that the party will take decision on Ajit Pawar’s demand.

“Since he (Ajit Pawar) has raised the demand in public, in front of the party chief, the party will have to take a decision soon. In the coming two months, we will get to see a decision on this issue,” said a leader who attended the meeting.

NCP’s national working president Praful Patel while speaking to reporters after the meeting said such a decision cannot be taken in a hurry.

“He (Ajit Pawar) has voiced his opinion. The party will take a call on this,” said Patel, after the meeting.

Meanwhile Ajit Pawar held a meeting with senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.

“We met to discuss the upcoming monsoon session of the legislature and the seat sharing talks under progress,” said Chavan.

The Congress leader said that all three parties in the MVA have general consensus that seats won by respective parties in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and where MP’s have not joined another party would go to the same party.

“There may not be much discussion on those seats. But we have not finalised anything,” said Chavan.
