"If you have one government at the Centre, state and local bodies, it helps in development work," said Devendra Fadnavis.
(Express file photo)Local bodies elections including for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are likely to be held in September and October, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis indicated on Friday.
Addressing a gathering of BJP workers at Sangli, Fadnavis said, “I urge party workers to get ready for the local bodies elections. After the Supreme Court directive, the decks for polls have been cleared. As recommended by the court, polls will have to be held within four months.”
Emphasising the importance of local bodies elections, Fadnavis said, “If you have one government at the Centre, state and local bodies, it helps in development work as there is uniformity and coordination. The policies and its implications are expedited and benefit the people and respective districts/state/local bodies.”
“In the first 100 days, we focussed on systematic changes in administration. Nearly 1,200 offices undertook exercise of cleanliness, record maintenance, completing pending works, addressing the basic amenities etc… For the next 150 days, we have given new targets focussed on e-governance. The people should get all their problems/work resolved through e-governance mechanism which would be operated through WhatsApp. Along with it, we have taken up the Viksit Maharashtra for Viksit Bharat. In the first phase we will chalk out the roadmap for 2029.
And then 2035. Our emphasis is on building strong institutions. We believe the governance should not be adversely impacted by change of parties,” he said.
“There should be institutional mechanism which should continue for Maharashtra welfare irrespective of change of governments,” he said.
