The Honorary Bronte Sister Recognition
Vidya Balan at a Paa promotional event

Vidya seems to be channelling a Victorian-era heroine in her attempt to move away from her boring old kurtas. Unfortunately for her,the experiment is not quite successful and this long kurta-meets-nightgown is actually making us nostalgic for her patented anarkalis. The bizarre patchwork at the sleeves and the hem and those ultra ugly platform heels are doing the actress no favours and neither is the messy Jane Eyre hairdo.

The Sophisticated Singles’ Society Award for Fabulous and Fine Females
Preity Zinta at MAMI closing ceremony

A string of flops,a disappointing IPL season and a failed relationship doesn’t mean a woman has to stay at home and look like a frump. Preity Zinta pulled off a fierce look recently with her vivid red angrakha-style kurta and churidar ensemble. The only quibble we have here is that she’s chosen to pair bronze coloured accessories with an outfit embellished in gold.

The Powerpuff Girl Award
Katrina Kaif at Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani promotional event

If this is how the usually casual Kat Kaif is turned out in her new movie,we’re not sure we want to catch it. There are certain things, like hope and faith, which we do like to retain from the glory days of our kiddyhood, but bright headbands and wristbands are not among them. Given that what makes Katrina such a head-turner is her innate femininity,it’s a shame that she’s playing it down to look like a playschooler.

The Golden Pom Poms Award for the Eternal Cheerleader
Deepa Sahi at Jail preview

Looks like Deepa found her college cheerleading costume while Diwali cleaning. There can be no other explanation for a woman on the wrong side of 40 to be wearing a short skirt paired with boots. And yes, those are striped socks peeking over the top of her boots. Also,is it just us,or does Deepa look a tad bit like Dev Anand here? Maybe it’s the drenched-cat haircut that’s giving that illusion,or the scarf.
