The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday recorded the statements of singer and social media influencer Abdu Rozik in the case filed against alleged drug trafficker Ali Asghar Shirazi.
Earlier in the same case, the agency had also taken the statement of actor Shiv Thakare.
Both are witnesses in this case as the duo were planning to start a food business with a company related to Shirazi.
ED is currently investigating Shirazi’s investment in this company.
The duo, however, said that once they found out about the background of Shirazi, they pulled out of the partnership.
Rozik, who also participated in television reality show Big Boss, arrived at the ED office with his lawyers on Tuesday and his statement was recorded for two hours after which he was allowed to go. His lawyer told mediapersons that the singer had no knowledge about Shirazi’s dealings.
A company related to Shirazi came in contact with both of them in 2022-23. A restaurant business was started using the name of both the artists. But after the Shirazi case, both of them pulled out of the project.
ED suspects that the smuggler Shirazi has sent a lot of money abroad through the sale of drugs. His trail is currently being traced by the ED. Shirazi was earlier arrested by the Mumbai crime branch.
