Constable hurt in accident

A woman constable was injured when a speeding truck rammed her scooter on the Sion-Panvel highway near the Sion Circle on Tuesday.

A woman constable was injured when a speeding truck rammed her scooter on the Sion-Panvel highway near the Sion Circle on Tuesday. S P Tambe was rushed to Sion Hospital and is undergoing treatment. Doctors said she suffered leg injuries and her condition was stable.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Keshav Patil said Tambe was on her way towards Thane when the accident took place. Tambe is posted at the Nehru Nagar police station in Kurla (West). “The incident took place around 3.30 pm near Highway Apartment next to the Sion flyover. Tambe was thrown off her scooter and was injured,” said Patil.

The truck driver left the vehicle on the spot and fled. He was nabbed later after the police traced the owners of the truck and got the identity of the driver. “The truck has a Navi Mumbai registration. After tracing the owners,we nabbed Sirajuddin Khan,” he said.
