Octroi collection meets target

Even after having set itself a high target of octroi collection,the BMC managed to cross the target for the fifth year in a row. While Rs 275 crore of collection was still pending on March 20,the collection at the end of the financial year stood at Rs 5,137 crores,having comfortably surpassed the target of Rs 5,045 crore. Crude oil consignments worth Rs 84 crore during the last three days of the financial year helped the civic body meet the target. An official said major boost was given by BPCL’s consignment worth Rs 43 crore on March 29 and HPCL’s consignment worth Rs 41 crore on March 31.
