Doing Dior
In Delhi,Christian Dior and its pretty India rep,Kalyani Chawla,hosted its annual soiree at the Taj hotel’s spectacular new bar,called The Blue Bar. Dior’s fabulous Winter 2009 collection was presented for showstopper Priyanka Chopra (a white chiffon and antique silver gown) and die-hard CD lovers,like Natasha and Adar Poonawala,Komal and Rajiv Wazir,Atal Punj,Bindu Vadhera,Chintrangada and Vikram Singh of Kashmir,Ritu Beri,Sunjay Kapur and the gorgeous Niamat Bakshi and brother Mozez Singh,who dressed in Dior Homme entirely.

Showstopper The runway turned into a long seating space where guests indulged in grilled bratwurst with Pommery mustard,gratinated oysters,camembert,olive and mariani brochettes and ceps in lemongrass. Kalyani promises another party for Mumbai soon.

Bagging it
When you’re aiming to launch a ‘fun,colourful’ line of bags,why not organise a fun,colourful launch party? Or so must have reasoned accessory designer Malini Aggarwalla who opened her store Malaga at Palladium on Thursday with her new prêt line,Pimento. Nibbling on elegant entrees were Sharmilla Khanna,Shaheen Abbas,Leetu Shivdasani and Mana Shetty. The man of the bash who seemed to be reveling in the female company was designer Vikram Phadnis.

Bummer Was Vikram aiming for the rumpled,just-out-of-bed look with the torn jeans and un-tucked shirt?

Sporting a new look
We all know that Nike is all about just doing it and now you can ‘do’ it in their newly launched sportswear collection in India. The launch party at Vie Lounge and Deck saw a flurry of sports enthusiasts and “self-proclaimed sports freaks” including Mahesh Bhupathy,Baichung Bhutia,a perky Anushka Manchandani in full jogger mode,a buxom-looking Mandira Bedi in a revealing Nike Eugene Track Jacket,Suneil Shetty,Esha Deol,Rocky S and a lithe and sporty Sheetal Mallar (who confessed she’s never played a sport in her life)

Bummer We did think the trance music lacked zing though we’re sure Rocky S would disagree with his jaunty hip-shaking. Was the spring in his step courtesy his Nike Air Max 90 sneakers perhaps?
