It is a truth universally acknowledged that a successful choreographer must be in want of a husband. So thinks Amrita Mitra about her mentor Geeta Kapoor. According to Geeta, her young protégé on Zee TV’s Dance India Dance is not satisfied with being a fabulous dancer—she wants to add the title ‘marriage broker’ to her resume as well and has attempted to set Geeta up with almost everyone on the sets. The young Bengali dancer says,“I don’t want to see Geeta ma alone and single. She is a great human and she deserves a great guy. She will mother him also like the way she (mothers) us.” How perfectly she understands the role of Indian women in marriages—for such a young girl,Amrita is quite perceptive.

Thanks Dad
Everyone on the sets of Star Plus’s Music Ka Maha Muqqabla witnessed Himesh Reshammiya’s emotional side while shooting for a recent episode. The singer/music director talked about his family’s days of poverty when they struggled to make ends meet. That’s the reason he always wants to see “rozi roti aur barkat” in the homes of rising singers,so they never have to go through what he did. But Himesh really swung into action when his father Vipin Bhai Reshammiya arrived on the sets. The grateful singer talked about how his father sacrificed his own career for his son’s and even went on to sing Apne To Apne Hote Hain,as a tribute to his father’s love. And we thought all Indian men were mama’s boys.

Starting young
Fox History and Entertainment’s campaign to kickstart an interest in history has been successful. The channel’s “My City,My History” campaign saw around 3,700 entries from school children around the country. The winning entries have been given a chance to shoot a 15-minute documentary about their city’s history and the subjects are as diverse as Mumbai’s Taj Mahal hotel and the history of the Delhi Police. Seems like some kids did more than their homework when it came to history. It’s a nice change from hearing about students falling asleep in history class.
