Charas seized from Byculla,man held

A 37-year-old man was arrested by the Ghatkopar unit of the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotic Cell on Saturday for allegedly possessing 1 kg charas,worth around Rs 1 lakh. ANC officers identified the suspect as Aarif Khan.

A 37-year-old man was arrested by the Ghatkopar unit of the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) on Saturday for allegedly possessing 1 kg charas,worth around Rs 1 lakh. ANC officers identified the suspect as Aarif Khan.

He was arrested in Byculla where he had come to allegedly sell the contraband,they said. Khan is a resident of the Pydhonie area in south Mumbai,the police said. “We got a tip-off that a person was coming to sell charas near the Deccan Merchant Bank on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar road in Byculla (East). We formed teams and laid a trap. As soon as Khan came to the spot,we nabbed him. We found the one kg of charas in his possession,” said an ANC officer. The police have charged Khan under relevant Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,1985.
