Mumbai police have arrested a tourist cab driver for allegedly driving dangerously under the influence of alcohol and performing a dangerous stunt by hanging on the car’s door from outside.

Suraj Zaman Saav, 26, a Virar resident, on the wee hours of Tuesday was on his way back to return the vehicle to the owner after the day’s work.

He allegedly performed a dangerous stunt by hanging on the car’s door from outside while driving the car, a Wagon R. He nearly missed other vehicles on the road but eventually rammed into a stationary vehicle parked alongside the road. Another motorist who was behind Saav’s vehicle recorded Saav’s dangerous stunt on video and alerted Mumbai police control room. Policemen from Andheri police arrived at the scene and nabbed Saav. Medical examination performed at the Cooper hospital confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol, said a police officer.

Police subsequently arrested him under sections 184 and 185 of the Motors Vehicle Act and 125 and 281 of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
