“All the ward offices have been instructed to take down all posters and banners. Each ward office will also set up a monitoring team that will keep a close watch so that repeat offenders don’t erect banners even after us removing them,” said an official.

The BMC administration also maintained that disciplinary action would be taken against officials for failure to remove the posters and hoardings within the time frame.

After a hiatus of four years, Mumbai will witness civic elections on January, 2026. After the general body of elected representatives got dissolved on March, 2022, Mumbai’s civic body along with all the 28 municipal corporations in Maharashtra remained under an administrator’s rule.
