Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari received a generous endorsement of his work from the Opposition benches during the Question Hour on Wednesday. While raising a question on collection of toll on under-repair roads, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh prefaced it with a compliment for Gadkari, saying he is considered the most influential and efficient Cabinet minister. Gadkari thanked Singh, whose remarks drew acknowledgement from the treasury benches with the traditional thumping of the desk.
The packed schedule of new BJP national working president Nitin Nabin has not permitted him to meet many senior party leaders except those he is personally calling on. He, however, held his first meeting at the party headquarters with those employed there for maintenance and related operations. In the meeting, also attended by national general secretaries, Nabin is learnt to have told the staff to ensure that BJP workers visiting the headquarters are given priority both in terms of access as well as treatment.
