During questioning, she said that she had filed another case of rape in July at Sector 14 police station against one Abhishek, who is currently in jail, said police.
A former flight attendant has been arrested in Gurgaon for allegedly registering a false complaint of rape in a bid to extort money from a complainant in another rape case, police said Wednesday.
The woman filed the complaint at DLF Phase-2 police station on December 11, alleging that she was called for a job interview through an online portal on November 15.
She said that a person picked her up from MG Road Metro station in a car, which was driven by one Ajay. They allegedly raped her in the moving vehicle while threatening to kill her if she reported it. A case was registered.
“During investigation, analysis of CCTV camera footage, call records, technical evidence, and other facts indicated that her allegations were baseless. The woman, who worked as a flight attendant, had colluded with one Jitendra alias Bittu to file the fabricated case. The woman was arrested from Gurgaon on Sunday and produced in a court the next day. The court sent her to a two-day police remand,” a police spokesperson said.
During questioning, she said that she had filed another case of rape in July at Sector 14 police station against one Abhishek, who is currently in jail, said police.
“She visited Abhishek in jail, when he introduced her to Bittu. After Bittu was released on bail, he hatched a plan with her. They decided to file a false case against the husband of the woman who had filed a complaint of rape accused Bittu at Sohna police station. The motive was revenge and extortion.
Asked about the complaint filed by the former flight attendant against Abhishek, police said that they will look into the matter again.
The original sections were removed, and new sections for criminal conspiracy, providing false evidence, and related offences have been added to the present case under the BNS.
“False cases waste resources and affect genuine victims. Action will be taken against those misusing the law,” the police said.
