Senior citizen dies after e-rickshaw hits her scooter in Delhi

A 76-year old woman died after allegedly being mowed down by an e-rickshaw while she was on a two-wheeler, Delhi Police said on Wednesday.

Police identified the deceased as Satnam. The incident occurred on Monday when Satnam and her husband Rajendra Singh were riding a scooter near Jagatpuri after offering prayers at a gurdwara.

“Near the gurdwara, an e-rickshaw hit the scooty, resulting in the couple falling down and the e-rickshaw overturning,” said an officer, adding that the couple were residents of Gandhi Nagar.

“The two were initially rushed to a hospital in Laxmi Nagar, from where Satnam was sent to the Metro hospital and Rajendra to Goyal hospital. Satnam was declared dead on arrival by the doctors,” the officer further said.
