With Bomb Thursdays at Kino 108 and The Scene at Blue Frog, the city finally is giving new bands a platform to showcase their talent. A grouse at many of these gigs is that the bands dont leave the performance with enough constructive feedback. A step in the right direction of forming a solid ecosystem for new bands is The True School of Music (TSM)s Band Boot Camp. Four bands will be selected to get feedback from an expert panel of judges,a 30-minute coaching session and multi-track recordings of their performance. One winning band will also be given a live video recording of its performance,as well as a 50 per cent scholarship for a three-month band coaching module at TSM.
The music school which was launched earlier this year,is calling for entries from bands via YouTube or Soundcloud links which need to be sent to info@trueschool.in. The final date for submission of entries is November 10. The expert panel is made up of prominent names from the music scene: Lalitha Suhasini,Editor,Rolling Stone India; Naveen Deshpande, director of Mixtape,an artist management company and Arjun S Ravi,co-founder/editor,Nh7.in.
