Backache prompts dentist suicide

On Monday,at 4 am,when Pravin’s mother,Daiben (79),woke up to go to the bathroom,she saw the body of Pravin dangling from the ceiling fan in his room. “Solanki used a bedspread to hang himself. He used to sleep alone in his room while his parents sleep in another room. His mother raised an alarm after seeing her son’s body and informed the police,” said Dhanawade.

Solanki was taken to the Nair Hospital for postmortem. The doctors have confirmed that it was an unnatural death. Solanki had divorced his wife in 2001 and had been staying with his parents ever since. In a statement,his parents have told the police that Pravin was frustrated due to his backache and had missed work on various occasions. Solanki had been attached to the Nair Hospital for the past 15 years and is survived by his parents and an elder brother who stays at Wadala.

When contacted,a friend of Solanki from the Nair Hospital said on condition of anonymity,“He had taken some holidays recently citing ill health. However,from what I know,he didn’t any other problems.”
