Five more flyovers in offing
In an attempt to ease traffic bottlenecks at major junctions and entry points of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR),the MMRDA is planning to construct five flyovers at a total estimated cost of Rs 200 crore. The proposed flyovers includes,one at Shil-Phata on the National Highway (NH) -4 which is also connected by Shil Phata Mahape Road and further extends towards Kalyan junction. Another flyover would be at Mumbra bypass junction and will go towards Panvel. Third flyover would be at Mankoli Junction at Bhiwandi bypass on the NH-3. There would be a flyover at Ranjoli Junction on NH-3 at the intersection of Bhiwandi bypass on Kalyan-Bhiwandi Road NH-222 and fifth flyover to come up at Vanjarpatti Naka on Bhiwandi Junction of old NH-3 on Bhiwandi-Wada Road. Dilip Kawathkar,Joint Project Director,MMRDA,said the flyovers would support the exponential growth of the region alongside the Virar-Alibaug Corridor.
Unidentified body washed ashore
The Body of an unidentified man was found floating off Marine Drive on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Marine Drive police,shopkeepers near the Meghdoot flyover have found the body floating in the water and called up the police control room. A police team reached the spot and took the body to GT Hospital. The body is of a man in his thirties and no identification details was found on his body. The body does not have any external injuries. We are awaiting autopsy reports which should shed some light on the cause of death, said Police Inspector M G Inamdar of the Marine Drive police station. Prima facie,it seems that the deceased must have fallen into the sea while sitting on the parapet at Marine Drive. A case of accidental death has been registered.
