Babu Chintade was arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch from Kurar and handed him over to the Kurar police.

According to Crime Branch, they had received information from the arrested accused about Chintade’s role in the kidnapping of five men, four of whom were later killed allegedly by Pathak. The bodies of Chetan Dhule (24),Dinesh Ahire (26),Ganesh Karnaje (24) and Bharat Kudle (27) were found naked and mutilated in a thickly forested hillock in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park on June 6.

Chintade is also involved in kidnapping the men along with Pathak,” said senior police inspector Dhanaji Nalavade of the Kurar police station.

The police produced Chintade at Borivali magistrate’s court on Thursday and he was remanded in police custody till June 18.

“So far,we have arrested eight persons for the murders. Some more people are involved in the crime, including Pathak, who will be arrested soon,” added Nalavade.
