“We have started work on over 600 roads. We are planning to complete nearly 80 per cent of the ongoing road works by January. Once these roads are complete, we will progressively initiate work on the new roads,” said a senior BMC official.
Until the concretisation project work was stalled owing to the monsoon onset in June, the BMC said that it had already achieved 63 per cent of the target in the first phase, with 101.67 km of roads completely concretised and 101.68 km partially completed. Meanwhile, in the second phase, 36 per cent of the target had been achieved. Officials have set a target of May 2026 for 95 per cent of the road works in phase I, and 85 per cent in phase II of the mega plan.
