59-year-old lawyer held for ‘molesting’ client

The Borivali police on Monday arrested a 59-year-old lawyer for allegedly molesting one of his clients at his office.

The Borivali police on Monday arrested a 59-year-old lawyer for allegedly molesting one of his clients at his office.

The victim,a 23-year-old beautician,told the police that she was molested by Kishore Mehta at his office,when she went there to discuss her divorce case.

According to the Borivali police,the incident took place on Monday evening when the victim visited Mehta’s office located at LT Road with her uncle.

“A few minutes into the meeting,her uncle excused himself to use the lavatory,leaving the woman with Mehta. The lawyer allegedly grabbed her hand

and told her that he would look after her and her child if she stayed with him. The complainant said she was taken aback and she slapped him,” said the police.

“Mehta then allegedly groped the woman. She raised an alarm,which alerted her uncle. The two left the lawyer’s office and contacted the woman’s family,before approaching us,” said N Khaire,senior inspector,Borivali police.

Based on the woman’s statement,an FIR was lodged against Mehta under Sections 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) and 509 (using gestures intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

He was later arrested. A metropolitan court released him on bail on Tuesday afternoon.
