Pushing its ambitious Development Plan (DP) for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region(MMR),the state government has formed five sub-committees on transport,water supply,solid waste management,housing and industrial investment.
At a meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Planning Committee here on Friday,the state government formed these committees to study and explore possibilities of co-ordinating basic civic amenities and infrastructure in the MMR,which includes Mumbai,Thane,Panvel,Alibaug,Mira-Bhayander,Virar-Vasai and Dahanu.
The DP for MMR is a vision document which will not only include land use but also plans for industrial investment and co-ordination of resources, said TC Benjamin,principal secretary,Urban Development Department.
