Three men were arrested for attempting to extort Rs 2 lakh from a Nigerian national Sunday,police said. Four other accused are absconding.
Kalachowkie police said the victim,Kenneth Ikwanja,25,a resident of Navi Mumbai,operates a garment export house in Bhendi Bazaar. On Sunday,he was called by a friend to Chembur to discuss an order,they said. However,around 3 pm,when he reached Chembur Camp,he was forced into a car and driven around for several hours. The accused asked Kenneth pay them Rs 2 lakh by the end of the day and threatened to implicate him in a narcotics case if he failed to do so, said senior inspector Bhausaheb Gite.
The men later released Kenneth in Kalachowkie. The accused,Dinesh Sakpal,36,Subhash Khade,23,and Anish Sanghvi 22,were arrested Sunday night.
