3 chain-snatching incidents in day

“Sarang resides in Vile Parle and had come to the temple to attend a religious sermon. As she walked out of the temple,two motorcycle-borne persons drove by. The person who was riding pillion then snatched her gold chain,before the two escaped. Sarang lost her 35 gm gold chain worth Rs 85,000 and a case has been registered against unknown persons,” said an officer attached to the Mahim police station.

In the second incident,the officer said 35-year-old Malad (East) resident Ashwini Salvi also lost her 38 gram gold chain worth Rs 95,000 to unidentified persons riding a motorcycle around 6.15 pm on Sunday.

“Salvi was traveling with her husband in their car. When they were near the Saraswati Mandir School on Senapati Bapat Marg in Mahim (West),two unidentified persons on a motorcycle were passing by their car. The pillion rider reached out and snatched Salvi’s chain before the duo fled. A case has been registered,” said the officer.

Pune resident Surekha Thorat,45,was also robbed of her gold chain by unidentified persons on Sunday.

“Thorat was traveling in an autorickshaw near the Adarsh Nagar Signal on New Link Road in Andheri (West) when two unknown persons on a motorcycle snatched her chain and escaped. The 21 gm gold chain was worth Rs 52,000. A probe is on,” said an officer from Oshiwara Police.
