TWO separate complaints of minors being raped were registered in the northern suburbs Tuesday. While a four-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped in Kandivali,a 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in Kurar.
Kandivali police said the four-year-old girl was playing outside her house on Monday night, while her mother and siblings were watching a cricket match on television. Around 11.30 pm,the girl’s mother stepped outside to check on her but could not find her. She informed her husband,an autorickshaw driver, and they later approached police.
While we were recording their statements,we received information from the police control room that a four-year-old girl had been found in Malwani by a passerby. We went there and her parents identified her. She was taken to Nagpada police hospital, where medical tests confirmed rape, said an officer.
The victim has only told the police that she was taken to Malwani by an unidentified man. We are yet to record a detailed statement, said senior inspector Sudhakar Shinde.
Meanwhile,in Kurar,Aditya Ruke (22) was arrested Monday for allegedly raping his neighbour’s seven-year-old daughter. Senior inspector Subhash Dafle said on May 1,the victim was alone in her house when the accused allegedly entered and forced himself on her. The girls mother,on returning, found her crying.
