A fortnight after the first phase of the National Census began, over 1,000 enumerators in the city are yet to receive their house block lists.
Nearly 10 per cent of the 27,358 enumerators who are to survey 150 households each had not received their house lists in the first week, the BMC said on Friday.
The first phase of house listing and gathering of data for the national population register started on May 1 and has to be completed by June 15. However, those who are yet to receive the list of houses will not be given any additional time. National guidelines make it compulsory for us to wind up the first phase by June 15, additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said.
At the same time,Mhaiskar said on an average, around three enumerators per ward had already completed surveying 70 per cent of the houses.
The BMC has announced early bird prizes for the first 100 enumerators who complete the house-listing process. A memento and a certificate will be awarded to these enumerators.
