The Vasai Railway police found a body of a 14-year-old boy on the railway tracks between Mira Road and Bhayander on Tuesday morning. The police are trying to identify the victim and trace his family.

According to the Vasai railway police, the body was spotted around 11.15 am. The boy was wearing his school uniform and was carrying a school bag. The exact cause of the death is still not known.

“There is no witness to the accident. The boy may have fallen off a moving train or could have been knocked down by a train. We have recovered the bag but could not find any identity card in it. The only book in his bag is of Urdu literature, which hints that he could possibly belong to the Muslim community. The uniform is of a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run school, but there are so many civic schools that it is difficult to contact all the schools in one day,” said a police officer attached to the Vasai railway police station. The police have also approached other police stations in Mumbai and Thane rural to check if any missing person’s complaint has been lodged.

Meanwhile, the Dadar railway police have failed to identify the foreigner who died after falling on tracks between Dadar and Matunga on December 10. The foreigner in his 40s fell off a moving train and succumbed to his injuries before he could be taken to the hospital.
