The division number 5 police station late on Sunday night registered a case against 16 unemployed TET teachers and a woman for harassing public and blocking traffic under sections 283,341 and 506 of the IPC.
The TET Pass Unemployed Teachers Union,Punjab,on Sunday protested for seven hours against the state government for not giving them jobs and blocked Bharat Nagar Chowk,causing public harassment and long traffic jams.
However,the move showed double standard of the police as no such case was registered against the mob which not only blocked traffic but also damaged public property,attacked buses and people on August 29 at Bharat Nagar Chowk in the wake of a murder at Jawahar Camp. Division number 5 SHO Dharampal confirmed the case registration and said after an investigation,appropriate action would be taken.
