Teachers protest,seek regularisation

Hundreds of teachers appointed under the schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan gathered in the city on Sunday and raised slogans against the state government.

“We are waiting for regularisation of our jobs. After every two months,CM assures us but nothing happens. Women teachers are given only three months of maternity leave while for other teachers,it is of six months. We have not even got our salaries for the past two months,” said Aman Singh,press secretary of SSA/RMSA Teachers’ Union,Punjab.

However,the teachers agreed to end the protest around 4 pm when the district administration and police assured them of a meeting with the CM soon.
