Talks fail,workers to continue strike

Workers of more than 100 power-loom units of Shakti Nagar,Gushala road,Kashmir Nagar,Madhopuri and Moti Nagar will continue their strike after talks between union leaders,industrialists and assistant labour commissioner R K Garg failed to reach a breakthrough.

Workers of more than 100 power-loom units of Shakti Nagar,Gushala road,Kashmir Nagar,Madhopuri and Moti Nagar will continue their strike after talks between union leaders,industrialists and assistant labour commissioner R K Garg failed to reach a breakthrough. The workers have been striking since Wednesday. They are demanding a hike in per piece rate and want the implementation of labour laws. The protest is being led by the Karkhana Mazdoor union. “ The workers at the moment earn between Rs 150 and 200 per day while we want a 25 per cent hike in per piece rate and if the worker does his job beyond 8 hours,he should be paid over time”,said Rajwinder Singh,who is leading the protest.
