Printers seek Centre’s nod for diagnostic study

The Offset Printers’ Association handed over a diagnostic study report to Vishwa Bandhu,General Manager of the District industry centre in Ludhiana .

The Offset Printers’ Association handed over a diagnostic study report to Vishwa Bandhu,General Manager of the District industry centre in Ludhiana for submission to the Micro,small and medium enterprises (MSME) department of the union government. Parveen Aggarwal President of the association said the aim of the report was to urge the Centre to set up a testing lab in the state. “Through this study we are requesting the Ministry of MSME,Government of India for setting up of a Training and Testing Lab for Printing and Packaging Industry. At present no such facility is available anywhere in Punjab,Haryana and Chandigarh,” he said. Kamal Chopra,an association member said another purpose of the DSR was to review the status of the industrial structure of printing and packaging cluster and to analyse it for identifying various technological,managerial and market related problems. The diagnostic report points out that the raw material market is under developed,resulting in conditions that favour suppliers and leading to high cost of the materials.
