A Lively batting performance from Mohali Cricket Association Academy players saw them register three successive wins after they easily defeated DP Azad Academy by 48 runs in a league match of the four-team Inter-Academy Under-16 Cricket Tournament for St Stephen’s Trophy being organised by Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy at the PCA ground on Thursday.
Batting first after winning the toss,MCA batsmen made merry on a placid batting track and posted 250 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 35 overs.
Kinderpreet sent the red cherry to the fence six times to top score with 42 runs. Crucial knocks from Anmoljit (37) and Harpreet (32) saw the score at more than seven runs per over. Some late surge from Shine Sharma and Pukhraj (20) saw the team reach the 250-run mark.
Gourav emerged as the most successful bowler for DP Azad Academy as he picked up three wickets for 27 runs.
In reply,DP Azad batsmen were bundled out for just 202 runs in 35 overs. Gaurav top scored with 49 runs. Shamsher Yadav (3 for 43) and Manish (3 for 29) bowled lethal spells to bring about the downfall of the DP Azad batting line.
Both the teams have moved into the finals.
