Expressing solidarity with the family of Nitin Garg who was killed recently in Melboure, the lawyers of Jagraon went on a strike today morning. Mohinder Singh Sidhwan,a senior advocate, said,“Our appeal to the Centre is that they should ensure safety of our children who have gone abroad for education and other purposes. At the same time, the government should speed up all the formalities so that the aggrieved family gets the body of their son as soon as possible. The governments, both Indian and Australian, should ensure that aid of every kind is extended to this family which has lost their loved one in a brutal attack.”

Meanwhile,Ashok Kumar, uncle of the deceased, said,“We have been told that the Australian government has handed over the body of Nitin to Amanjeet Singh, though we are yet to get a confirmation from Aman. Aman will send the body back home after he receives it on the flight available.” The family had given a power of attorney to Aman, who is a friend of the deceased,to receive the body on behalf of Garg family.
