Auto-rickshaw operators protest against rising prices
Ludhiana District Auto Rickshaw Operators Union held a meeting at Haibowal Kalan under the presidentship of Om Parkash Jodhan. The auto-rickshaw drivers protested against price hike and raised slogans against the hoarders and demanded that the state and the central government should take strict action against them. They said that it had become difficult for them to make their both ends meet. They said that seeing no way out they had to increase the fares as the rates of tires,spare parts etc had also increased. The meeting was attend by Madan Lal,Kuldip Singh khalsa,Milap Chand,Ajaib Singh etc.
Road safety awareness programme organised for students
The Traffic Police department on Wednesday sensitized the students of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School Shastri Nagar about road safety norms. Rupinder Singh,SP,Traffic,and Anil Bhanot,SHO,and other eminent dignitaries of school management were also present on this occasion. The SP,Traffic,deliberated on driving habits and rising chaos of traffic and urged the students to not to use mobile phone while driving. Anil Bhanit appealed the students to follow the traffic rules.,avoid haphazard parking etc.
Winter school on vegetable crops starts
The Department of Vegetable Crops at PAU in collaboration with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) organised a winter school on Architectural Engineering of Vegetable Crops and their Management on Wednesday. The Head of the Department,Dr DS Cheema said that the was inaugurated by PAU Vice-Chancellor,Dr Manjit Singh Kang at Jacob Hall of College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology. He added that scientists hailing from different parts of the country would participate.
PAU Kisan Mela schedule announced
The PAU Director of Extension Education,Dr MS Gill said that the PAU Kisan Mela dates had been finalised. He said that the first Kisan Mela would be held at Regional Station,Gurdaspur,on March 9 followed by at Ballowal Saunkhri (near Balachaur) on March 11,KVK Rauni (Patiala) on March 15,PAU,Ludhiana,on March 18-19 and at Regional Station,Bathinda on March 22. He informed that the melas would showcase technologies for cultivation of Kharif crops,make available seeds,planting material and farm literature. There will be special attractions for farm women during the melas,he said.
