Sports Day celebrated at MYCDC
Sports Day was celebrated at Magic Years Child Development Centre,a day care-cum-nursery school,on Saturday. More than 35 children in the age group of 2 to 4 years participated in different games. They were seen doing hop race,frog race,backward and straight running. Apart from this,the children also presented a march past and a PT show to the guests and their parents,who were invited. Special games were also organised for the parents and in the end,the children danced to the tune of “Nanha munna rahi huun” to enthral the audience. Dr Avtar Singh,a retired PAU professor,was the chief guest. The school director,Dr Harbans Singh,along with the chief guest gave away the prizes to the winners.

Essay writing contest held
SDP College for Women celebrated the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi on the college campus. As many as 16 students participated in this contest. They expressed their views on the the topics,“Relevance of Gandhian principles in the present scenario’’ and “Mahatma Gandhi meri drishtio mein.” Johny Brusa got first prize,while Rachna and Saloni received second and third prizes,respectively. The Director,S Verma and Meenu Sharma,principal,honoured the winners with certificates. While the Home Science department of the college organized an extension lecture on “Quality control in apparel technology”,Dr Sandeep Bains,an eminent scientist from PAU,Ludhiana,was the chief resourceperson.

Free medical camp organised
RG Stone Urology and Laparoscopy Hospital organized a free medical camp at its Model Town centre here on Sunday. The patients with problems related to gall bladder,kidney and stone etc were given medical advice by Dr HS Jolly and Dr Anand Sehgal. Free ultrasound,blood test and uroflowmetry test were also conducted as per the requirement. About 100 patients were examined at the camp.

Birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas celebrated
Vishwa Guru Ravidas Mission celebrated 633th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas at Guru Ravidas Bhawan Dharamshala,Ahata Sher Jung here. A large number of followers from various sections of the society took part in the celebrations. The speakers expressed their views on the teachings of Guru Ravidas on the occasion.

ETT teachers’ union to hold rally on Feb 13
The ETT Teachers Union on Sunday held a meeting with many supporting unions at Chatar Singh Park and decided to hold a big protest rally at Lambi on February 13. The supporting organisations also assured to make this rally a big success. The protesters will press the government for including the schools of Zila Parishad in Education Department and for giving the pay grade of 10300+34800+4200. The leaders of different unions condemned the Punjab government for the January 28 lathicharge on the ETT teachers,who holding a protest at Kapurthala.
