IMA launches plantation drive
IMA Ludhiana started a campaign Plants are our lungs and plant plants for fresh air by planting 50 medicinal plants at Civil Hospital,Ludhiana,on Saturday. Dr AK Mehta,Assistant Civil Surgeon,Ludhiana,and Dr Narotam Dewan,President,IMA,Ludhiana,planted the first neem plant in the park of the Civil Hospital. Fifty plants will be planted at IMA House,BRS Nagar,Ludhiana. IMA Ludhiana has issued a special request to doctors in particular and public that every person should plant a tree or at least a plant. Dr AK Mehta,Assistant Civil Surgeon,Ludhiana,thanked IMA for the plantation at Civil Hospital.
Monetary help sought for patient
A 26-year-old man,Rajan Bhatti,who is under going treatment at the CMCH needs financial help. He was diagnosed with right sided pelviuretreic obstruction and left sided non visualized kidney. He is very poor and the cost of his treatment would be approximately Rs 50,000. Rajan requires support in terms of financial assistance. Rajan was the sole breadwinner in the family. People desirous of helping him can contact Medical Superintendent,CMC Ludhiana. Cheques can be drawn in favour of Christian Medical College Ludhiana mentioning Treatment for Rajan Unit No. C7245857 at the back of the cheque .
Health camp held
A medical checkup,health and disease awareness camp was held at Sibia Medical Centre where free consultation,blood pressure check up,blood sugar analysis and computerised 12 channel ECG was done. Patients were educated about relationship of disease and lifestyle management and informed about the importance of stress free lifestyle,regular exercise and balanced diet.On this occasion,Dr Sibia,director and consultant Sibia Medical Centre,said the centre provides regular free consultation and ECG facility for economically poor patients from 5 to 7 pm from Monday to Friday.
CCI condemns removal of doctors
The Cancer Council of India (CCI) has condemned the unceremonious removal of senior doctors of MD Oswal Cancer Hospital,Ludhiana. Dr Devinder Singh Sandhu,Executive Chairman CCI,Member governing body (trustee) SGRD Medical College and Dr SS Johl,Chairman CCI,former Vice-Chancellor,Punjabi University,former member: Prime ministers Economic advisory council have condemned the removal of Dr Satish Jain,Oncosurgeon; Dr Veena Jain,Gynae-oncologist; and Dr Rajesh Vasisht,Radiation oncologist of MD Oswal Cancer Hospital. All the doctors had put in more than 20 years of selfless service.
