10-day NSS camp ends

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) actively carries out various activities such as campus beautification,creating awareness about clean and green city,tree protection,judicious use of natural resources,etc. besides educating people about the prevailing social vices such as female foeticide,drug use,etc.

Their moto is ‘Not me but you’. The unit has recently concluded its 10-day camp on the theme “Clean and green environment” under the guidance of Programme Coordinator,Dr (Mrs) Daman Jeet Kaur and Programme Officers,Dr HS Sarlach and Dr SK Saini (both of CoA),Dr Sarita Saini (CoHSC) and Dr JP Singh (COAET).

13 water,sewerage connections cut

MC operation and Maintenance cell on Tuesday disconnected 13 more illegal water and sewerage connections in Mayor Hakam Singh Giaspura’s ward. Out of these,three were industrial sewer connections which were running without permission while four were residential sewer connections. Another six residential,water and sewer connections were also running without permission. Regarding the outstanding payment,the department said so far about Rs 1 lakh had come from various offices.

GNIMT holds meets for faculty

Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) chapter,GNIMT,organised a faculty development programme for its members. Dr Vikas Arora,director,Himalayan Institute of Management,Kala Amb,was the resourceperson for the workshop on dynamics of effective teaching.

I7 cr surrendered after IT surveys

In a recent income tax surveys held on seven firms,a total of Rs 7 crore has been surrendered. A sum of Rs 4 crore was surrendered by Deepak Builders,Rs 1 crore by Berri Marble,Rs 55 lakh by Red Carpet,Rs 50 lakh by Bhanu DJ,Rs 40 lakh by USB Enterprises,Rs 27 lakh by Kohli Chemicals and Rs 35 lakh by Sant Hardware.

Aggarwal elected president of OPA

Elections of Offset Printers’ Association (OPA) were held in which Parveen Aggarwal has been chosen as the president of this association for 4th consective time.The other office-bearers include: vice-president Kushl Kumar Jain,general secretary Kamal Chopra,treasurer Hans Raj Chopra and few others. Besides,Amarjit Singh Mancoo has been elected as chairman of Disputes and Legal Matters.

Alumni meet held

The annual meet of the alumni of College of Agriculture (COA) of Punjab Agricultural University is being held on February 11-12. The Dean of COA,Dr Milkha Singh Aulakh said that in addition to these from within the country,alumni of the College from Faislabad, Pakistan will also be invited to participate. He said that special technical sessions on topics relevant to prevailing agricultural scenario will be organised on the occasion. A special lecture on food security scenario will be delivered by the World Food Prize winner, Dr Gurdev Singh Khush,said Dr Aulakh.
