CMCH doctor commits suicide
Dr Siddhartha Sharma,a lecturer in Medicine at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) today committed suicide. Dr Kamal Maseeh,Medical Superintendent of CMCH,said,”He committed suicide in pulmonary function test lab. It was around 7:35 am today when the hospital employees noticed his body,following which we immediately informed the Division No. 3 police station.” Surindermohan,SHO,Police Division No. 3,said,”We recovered a suicide note from site of the crime,in which the doctor had written that none should held responsible for his suicide. A letter purportedly written by the deceased to his parents was also recovered from there.” Dr Sidhharth had served the institute for two years and was married to Dr Suruchi,employed in Dental department of CMCH.

Ramoowalia to youth’s rescue
Lok Bhalai party president Balwant Singh Ramoowalia today helped a complainant in getting back his papers from one Ludhiana-based travel agent,for which the agent was demanding Rs 1 lakh. Ramoowalia said,”One Kulwinder Singh of Bhattian Dhaha village had approached the travel agent to go to Australia on student visa,but the agent was harassing him and hence I intervened. Finally the papers are with Singh and he can make a fresh application for which my party will guide him.” He urged the state government to take strict action against the fake travel agents.
