Three companies surrender Rs 35 cr during I-T raids
In Fridays income tax raid on famous Duke Fashion Private Limited and its sister concerns Neva Garment Limited and Venus Garments India Limited a total of Rs 35 crore has been surrendered by the three companies. Nine bank lockers have been sealed by the I-T investigations wing. A total of 16 premises were raided which included 12 business premises and 4 houses of the group. The factories located in Hussainpura village and the Jalandhar bypass were raided while the residential premises are are Civil Lines. In addition to this,3 units are in Tamil Nadu of the same group. Sources confirmed that even they were also being raided by the teams. More than 100 I-T officials along with police conducted this raid.
MC Building branch razes 707 structures in Transport Nagar
The Building branch of the MC today conducted demolition drive in the Transport Nagar area on Friday in which a total of 707 illegal encroachments were removed. Out of these 40 were major in encroachments in which the dhabas,kiosks had come up on MC land. Encroachment upto 200 square yard was done on MC road. Transporters had made store houses on MC land by erecting temporary sheds,said Assistant town planner Harpreet Ghai. The team did not face much resentment.
In addition to this,the house tax branch of corporation today sealed a part of Sigma hospital in Gurdev. The owner had outstanding amount of Rs 22 lakh against this hospital for the past one and half year. The House tax branch sealed office and 3 rooms on ground floor and left the upper floors because the doctor incharge had his residence as well in the same building and the family members sought more time,told Neeraj Jain,superintendent House tax branch. The owner has been warned to pay the outstanding amount soon or to face action.
The Heart of Champion programme held at CMCH
Under the National Rural Health Mission,the Government of Punjab has empanelled the Christian Medical College and Hospital in the city to be one of the few hospitals in the state to conduct free heart surgeries of schoolchildren of any government and government-aided school. The hospital on Saturday held a The Heart of a Champion,a thanksgiving function to the government of Punjab and to the Health Minister who has initiated this life-giving programme.
The aim behind this project is also to create awareness about heart disease and its treatment and to give tips to parents and the children about basic dental hygiene and nutrition.
Tree plantation drive at DPS-Khanna
Delhi Public School,Khanna,launched a tree plantation.The first sapling was planted by chief guest Parminder Singh Dhindsa,Punjab PWD Minister. Over 150 saplings were planted on the school premises at Ikolahi village,3 kilometres from Khanna towards Ludhiana. Congratulating the Delhi Public School Society for its value-based approach,Dhindsa also requested the society to set up more and more such educational institutions in India.
