Monetary help sought for kidney patient
Puneet,a 26-year old city resident,is suffering from renal kidney failure and is on bi-weekly dialysis for the past four years. His father Ishwar Chander is also bed-ridden with chronic arthritis. The family has exhausted all the financial resources on Puneet and his fathers treatment. Lecture on drug abuse held
Rising Youth Association organised a lecture against drug abuse on the international day against drug abuse at Civil Lines today. Dr Naresh Bansal and Dr Anooj Chatley delivered a lecture.
Dr Bansal,a leading psychiatrist,said,Alcohol-related drinking problems are a cause substantial morbidity and mortality in the world. Drug abuse is now the single largest factor in the spread of HIV and hepatitis infections. Using or sharing unsterile needles,cotton swabs,rinse water,and cookers,such as when injecting heroin,cocaine,or other drugs,leave a drug abuser vulnerable to contracting or transmitting HIV. City docs protest against Clinical Establishment Bill,observe black day
To protest against the Clinical Establishment Bill,2010,the city doctors and hospitals observed black day by wearing black badges. This was part of agitation launched by the Indian Medical Association,Ludhiana. Doctors of various hospitals held protest meetings,IMA has threatened to step up their agitation to get the bill rolled back. The Lok Sabha has passed the Bill to regulate private hospitals and clinics.
