Committed to make hostels a home away from home: Vet varsity V-C
Announcing a plethora of facilities for hostel inmates,the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Vice-Chancellor Dr V K Taneja said the university was committed to provide hostellers “best possible” facilities. The V-C said the university would make hostels equipped with all ultra-modern facilities including provisions for microwaves,hot air ovens,water heaters,proper lighting,refrigeration facilities and a comfortable living. “We are committed to make hostels a home away from home,” Dr Taneja told the girl inmates of Hostel No 5 while attending a religious function organised by hostellers to mark the inauguration of newly constructed residential wing.

City industrialist nominated to MSME
City industrialist V P Chopra has been nominated as the national board member of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). He is the only member from the north India,said a press release.

Seminar held on Mirza Ghalib
To commemorate the death anniversary of Mirza Galib on February 15, a seminar was organised at S C D Government College for Boys by Dhvani,a city-based association of arts. College principal Jasbir Kaur Makkar was the chief guest on the occasion. Professor N K Kalia delivered a speech on Galib highlighting different aspects of the poet. Dr Aziz Parihar and Professor N S Tasneem explained the uniqueness of his poetry.

NCC cadet honoured
Anand Isher Senor Secondary Public School organised a function to honour Class X student Naiya Vinayak for representing NCC Directorate of Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh at the Republic Day Parade in new Delhi. She was honored by chief guest Col S S Saini,who lauded her passion for NCC. The school also honoured Cadet Jaskanwaldeep Singh,who was the first cadet of the school to represent Punjab at the RDC in 2005.

NGO celebrates V-Day with senior citizens
Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle celebrated Valentines Day with children of Bal Bhawan and inmates of old age home on Sunday. Komaljit Singh of the study circle said,“ We told students that love does not involve possession but mark an understanding for others. One should love children,family elders and there shall be no public display of it.” About 170 children of Bal Bhawan and inmates of old age home participated in the function.
