Mother,child carewing inspected
A team of Punjab health technicians on Tuesday visited the Civil Hospital to see the ongoing construction of the 100-bedded mother and child care wing. Though B S Dhaliwal,special secretary to the Chief Minister,was scheduled to come,he went back from Neelon and his superintending engineer Anand Ojha came to see the ongoing work. He said that about 35% work had been completed and the project was expected to be completed by July 2014. He asked the Punjab Health System Corporation officials to maintain quality of the work and stated that such surprise visits would continue in future as well.
Seven-day NSS camp begins
A seven-day NSS camp began on the premises of Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women on Tuesday. The NSS programming officers,Robina and Bhawna,lectured volunteers on health,hygiene and objectives of NSS to serve society. Principal Sarita Bahl was also present.
Another NSS camp starts at KCW
With the registration of 150 volunteers,a seven-day (day and night) NSS camp began with the theme of environment including conservation of natural resources and preservation of cultural/historical heritage at Khalsa College for Women,Civil Lines,on Monday.
Seminar on direct seeding of rice
A state-level seminar on Direct Seeded Rice: Prospects and Challenges was held by the Department of Agronomy of Punjab Agricultural University on Tuesday. Farmers from across the state and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Farm Advisory Service Scheme participated in the seminar.
