With Dubai dreams in his eyes,24-year-old Lacchman left his native village Mor Kariman around four years ago. His family had taken a loan to fund his travel. In these four years,Lacchman’s dream, however, turned sour. Dejected,he committed suicide yesterday.

Jaswant Singh, the deceased’s brother said,”Lacchman had returned home around two months ago. Since the very day he came back,he was not happy. He told us that he did not want to go back and would look for a job in India only. But he could not find any job here. With things not working right for Lacchman,he was mentally upset. Yesterday, around four in the morning,he told me that he was going for a walk. Around 45 minutes later,we came to know that his body was lying on the railway tracks.”

Singh added,”The railway police told us that Lacchamn jumped before a special train that runs between Jagraon and Ludhiana. He committed suicide close to village Chowki Mann.”

According to the family,Lacchman Singh used to work on a GCB machine in Dubai. “Despite his hard work,he could not make enough money. We are poor people who make our both ends meet by doing odd jobs in the village. Lacchamn was our only hope. We had sent him abroad so that he could send back some money that would help the family improve its financial health. We have huge loans that need to be repaid and we do not know how we will survive,” said the deceased’s father, Amar Singh. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
