248 receive degrees at CoAET convocation

The convocation and prize distribution function of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology,Punjab Agricultural University,was held at Pal Auditorium on Friday.

The convocation and prize distribution function of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (CoAET),Punjab Agricultural University (PAU),was held at Pal Auditorium on Friday. Union Food and Public Distribution Secretary B C Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion while PAU Vice-Chancellor Baldev Singh Dhillon presided over the function.

In his address,Dr Gupta said that growth of the agriculture sector is vital for the Indian economy as it leads to faster growth rate in other sectors. Since the majority of business sectors are directly or indirectly associated with agriculture,the growth and development of agri-business assumes greater importance for which agricultural engineering plays a crucial role.

CoAET Dean P P S Lubana said that that the College has strengthened professional tie-ups with leading industrial and educational institutes of the world. The College has signed MoUs for collaboration with New Holland Fiat India,Tractor and Farm Equipment (TAFE),CLAAS India,Mahindra & Mahindra,Moscow State University of Environment Engineering and Moscow State Agricultural Engineering University.

A total of 248 degrees in BTech (Agricultural Engineering),three gold medals,72 merit certificates and 99 college merit colours including college colour were awarded to the students. In addition,11 Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) Sivasailam awards and 13 running trophies were given.
