After having completed the data entry of the membership forms, the Indian Youth Congress is all set to kick off their elections in the Central zone of UP from the last week of May.
The members of the Central Youth Congress election authority were in the state capital on Friday and informed that the scrutiny of the submitted forms would be done between May 2 and May 6 in every Assembly segment of the state.
According to sources,an extensive scrutiny is required in the state as the form rejection rate has been the highest in UP as compared to other states where Youth Congress has conducted elections according to its new pattern.
Interestingly, the Youth Congress has enrolled the maximum members in Tamil Nadu close to around 14 lakh of which around 1 lakh membership forms have been rejected due to missing information.
For the first time,Youth Congress has made it compulsory for each applicant to affix a photograph, give proper proof of age (below 35 years) as well as caste certificate.
In the UP Central zone,of around 5 lakh membership forms submitted during the membership drive in December 2009,just 3.03 lakh forms have been accepted and the rest have been rejected due to missing information.
I admit that the membership form rejection rate is high here but the final figures are likely to change after the scrutiny as our returning officers would visit each Assembly in the Central zone to correct genuine complaints, said Prakash Joshi, member of central election authority of Youth Congress.
In order to make things easy for the members,we have put each and every form on our website http://election.iyc.in where each member after inserting his barcode will know the reason for rejection, he added.
