UP plans digitisation of pre-2002 revenue records in phases
Officials said that through digitization the idea is to preserve old revenue records not only of recent times but also those before 1990

Claiming that revenue records archive from 2002 to 2017 has been 95% complete, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to undertake major digitisation of pre-2002 revenue records.
Officials said while the tender process has been initiated for digitisation of revenue records from 1990 to 2001, another process for digitisation of records before 1990 would also started soon.
Sources informed that in many cases of land dispute, it some times become difficult to retrieve old records, delaying the process and some times, even the records are reported as missing. Officials said that through digitization the idea is to preserve old revenue records not only of recent times but also those before 1990.
“The digitisation of records is taking place in a phased manner. Ninety per cent of documents from 2002 to 2017 were digitised by April 25, while tender process for disitisation of documents from 1990 to 2001 is already underway by UPDESCO. In the third phase, the focus would be on digitisation of documents before 1990,” said a government spokeperson. The process would also reduce the burden of old files from sub-registrar offices and would be stored in the central record room.
