U.P. Board Results: Improved success rate in Class XII, slight dip in Class X

According to the Board officials, the number of students who took Class X exams was also less as compared to last year. This year, 27.49 lakh students — 14.39 lakh boys and 13.10 lakh girls took the exams, a drop of 1.69 lakh students from 2023.

Girls have outshone boys again in Class X and Class XII board exams, the results of which were declared by the UP State Board of High School and Intermediate Education on Saturday.

In Class X Board exams, while the overall pass percentage stood at 89.55, it was 93.40 among the girls and 86.05 among boys. The overall percentage of successful students, however, saw a slight dip of 0.23 percentage points from last year.

According to the Board officials, the number of students who took Class X exams was also less as compared to last year. This year, 27.49 lakh students — 14.39 lakh boys and 13.10 lakh girls took the exams, a drop of 1.69 lakh students from 2023.

The best-performing districts were Bhadohi with a passing percentage of 96.08; followed by Prayagraj (95.51); and Gautam Buddh Nagar (95.11).

Among Class X students, Prachi Nigam of Sita Bal VMIC Mahmudabad in Sitapur district topped the exams, scoring 591 out of 600 (98.5%), followed by Deepika Sonkar of SSIC School in Husenganj, Fatehpur district; and Navya Singh, a classmate of Prachi, with a score of 588 out of 600 (98%).

The passing percentage among girls was 88.42, while it was 77.78 among boys. As compared to last year, the overall pass percentage saw an overall jump of 7.08 percentage points though there was a decrease of 1.90 lakh students appearing for the exam. Among boys, the jump in the pass percentage points was 8.44. Among girls, it was 5.42.

The best-performing districts for Class XII exams were Amroha with a passing percentage of 91.27, followed by Mahoba (90.51), and Lucknow (90.49).

Shubham Verma of Sita Bal VMIC Mahmudabad School in Sitapur district topped the exam with a score of 489 out of 500 (97.8%) with the second place shared by six students — Vishu Chaudhary (Baghpat), Kajal Singh (Amroha), Raj Verma (Sitapur), Kashish Maurya (Sitapur), Charli Gupta (Siddharth Nagar), and Sujata Pandey (Deoria) — who scored 488 out of 500.

The Class X and XII Board exams were held between February 22 and March 9 at 8,265 examination centers.C “For the first time, the exam was conducted in a record 12 working days. The evaluation of answer sheets was completed in the same number of working days from March 16 and March 30 at 259 centers in Madhya Pradesh,” an official from the state Board said.

Congratulating the successful students, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “All of you are the golden future of the New Uttar Pradesh. With such hard work, dedication, and patience, I wish that all of you succeed in every test of life,” he post on X.

The UP government had made elaborate arrangements to make the examinations free from unfair means. Officials on Saturday said the process adopted in the past years was further strengthened to make the exams fair and free from cheating. Command and control centres were established from where live monitoring of all the examination centers was carried out, they said.
