Most of the successful candidates of State Entrance Examination 2010 organised by UP Technical University (UPTU) are not planning to take admission in the best engineering colleges of the state. Reason: Most of them have cleared the IIT-JEE and would prefer to take admission in the country’s premier institute. The UPTU declared the SEE 2010 results on Saturday.
UPTU Vice-Chancellor Prof Kripa Shanker said: A number of SEE candidates qualify the IIT-JEE examinations and other national institute examinations and prefer to take admission there. Hence,we will conduct our counselling after the counselling of All India Engineering Entrance Examinations gets over.
SEE-2010 overview
* In the merit lists of eight different disciplines,only two girls Shazia Bano of Faizabad and Saima of Kanpur secured a position in the top 10. Shazia got third position in BTech (Bio-Technology) and Saima got 8th position in BPharma.
* UPTU had conducted SEE on April 17 and 18 for admissions to 1.31 lakh seats in eight courses: Bachelor of Technology,BTech (Bio-Technology),Bachelor of Pharmacy,Bachelor of Architecture,Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology,Bachelor of Fashion and Designing,Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Computer Application.
* Over 2.78 lakh candidates had appeared for the examinations,of which 2.35 lakh qualified.
Rishabh Nigam,Varanasi

Background: Rishabh scored 92.4 per cent in CBSE Class XII exams. His father Radhey Nigam is the chief manager of Bank of Baroda,Allahabad branch.
IITs are institutes of international prestige and promise a bright career. I will take admission either in IIT-Kanpur or IIT-Mumbai and prefer computer science

UPTU: 1st BPharma; 2nd BTech (bio-technology); IIT rank: 400
Background: Robin has also secured 83 rd rank in the engineering entrance exam conducted by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
I would prefer an IIT and and take admission in mechanical engineering . At a later stage,I will prepare for civil services
Ashish Agrawal,Mathura
UPTU: 1st BTech (bio-technology); IIT rank: 504
Background: Ashish passed Class XII from St Columbas School,New Delhi,securing 93.6 per cent.
I was sure I would crack IIT-JEE but I applied in UPTU as well in order to ensure an admission
Srijan Mishra,Lucknow
UPTU: 3rd in BTech; IIT rank: 2965
Background: Srijan scored 85.6 per cent in Class XII from Mahanagar Boys Inter College,Lucknow. His father Rajiv Ranjan Mishra is an engineer with UP State Road Transport Corporation.
I would prefer computer science from IIT. I will not go for research or civil services

Background: Akash scored 90 per cent in Class XII exams from Mau district. He had scored cent per cent marks in chemistry. His father Gyanendra Kumar Srivastava is an employee of Kashi Gomti Sanyukt Gramin Bank in Azamgarh.
Obviously,I will prefer an IIT and complete engineering in computer science
